Deborah Aldrete Hoppe

Deborah Aldrete Hoppe
Deborah (Debbie) Aldrete Hoppe of Piedmont, CA, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 8, 2013.  Debbie’s motto was, “family and friends first.”  She was a devoted and loyal wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to many. Debbie gathered those she loved together as often as possible, sharing her passion for cooking and conversation. She did it all with boundless energy, a sense of fun, and an open and loving heart.
Debbie was born on October 3, 1956 in Santa Monica, CA.  She graduated from Palos Verdes High School in 1975 and continued on to study at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi.
At a time when few women managed clothing production, Debbie rapidly succeeded and became an inspiration to those she supervised and mentored. She most recently served as Director of Sourcing and Production for Ariat International. After starting her career with Koret and Fritzi of California, she excelled as a leader in senior management positions at Levi Strauss, The GAP, Hurley, Quiksilver and Speedo.
Debbie was most proud of her daughters, who continue her commitment to friends and family and love of the outdoors, hiking, and athletics -- both competing as runners.
She recently completed the Nike Womens’ Half Marathon in San Francisco and, true to form, thanked her Ariat team members for inspiring her.  She loved to travel the world and in the last year enjoyed trips for business and pleasure to Montana, Mexico, Germany, Poland, Asia, India, Michigan and North Carolina.
Debbie is lovingly remembered by husband, H. Brian Hoppe; daughters, Devon Elizabeth Hoppe and Sarah Catherine Hoppe; mother, Kathleen Anne Aldrete; and her in-laws, Harold and Bette Hoppe. She will be missed by her sister, Stephanie Anne Aldrete, and her brothers -- Mark Henry Aldrete, Timothy Paul Aldrete, and Gregory John Aldrete and his wife, Nini Aldrete – as well as by her brother-in-law, Timothy Hoppe and his wife, Denise Hoppe, and her sister-in-law Julie Hoppe Kaye and her husband, Todd Kaye. She will never be forgotten by her nieces and nephews: Nicole, Natalie, Annemarie, Matthew, Alexandra, Madeline and Kyle Aldrete; Danielle and Taylor Campbell; Genna and Ian Hoppe; Shaina and Michaela Kaye; and many relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her father Henry Aldrete.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, November 16 in Piedmont, CA.
