An Upland man en route to work at the Montage Laguna Beach resort was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after he allegedly hit two cars Friday night in Laguna Beach, police said.

Eric Escobedo, 24, was taken into custody and charged with DUI, driving on a suspended license and two counts of hit-and-run, according to police.

Laguna Beach police received a call at 10:16 p.m. from a man saying a blue Honda struck his silver Range Rover near South Coast Highway and Broadway Street.

The man followed the suspect south to the resort’s entrance on South Coast Highway, Sgt. Louise Callus wrote in an email.

An officer saw the Honda and said the vehicle struck another car, a Mitsubishi Eclipse, on one of the resort’s access roads, Callus said.

The officer tried to block the suspect’s car, but the driver went into an underground parking area, where additional officers located him and the car, according to Callus.

No one was injured, police said.
