The Crowd: Fourth edition of the ‘The Scout Guide Newport Beach’ debuts at Lido House

The Eastern Seaboard-inspired Newport Lido House welcomed some 200 guests for a sunset soiree on the hotel’s expansive lawn honoring the 2026-27 publication of the “The Scout Guide Newport Beach.”
Creator, publisher and influencer Catherine Lowe greeted the crowd for the debut of the fourth edition of the handsome book chronicling the au courant lifestyle, fashion, dining, travel and professional services that make Newport one of America’s most celebrated social centers.
“‘The Scout Guide’ has always been about celebrating the entrepreneurs, creatives and visionaries behind Newport Beach and coastal Orange County’s most exceptional businesses alongside some of the region’s most iconic brands and destinations,” Lowe said. “Our annual launch is more than the unveiling of a new edition. It’s an opportunity to bring our community together, foster meaningful connections and celebrate everything that makes Newport Beach and coastal Orange County such an extraordinary place to live, work and play.”
“The Scout Guide” bills itself as “a curated publication and digital guide that highlights local independent businesses, makers, and entrepreneurs in the coastal California community.” It’s the modern world version of the “Social Register,” a high society publication dating to the 1800s, or a blue book, displaying the trends, style and prominent names of other times and social values.
“The Scout Guide” finds its mission in editing the local culture via the participation of trendsetters displaying their creativity.

Opening the pages, the book is curated to visually capture the world of STA Jets, a private aviation company in Costa Mesa; the appointment-only Atelier at Winston Crown Jewelers in Newport; the floral display of Urban Gardener, also in Newport; and the collection of the Argaux Wine club in Costa Mesa.

There is much more. “The Scout Guide” wants the reader to know the Balboa Island Museum. Or consider getting involved with Orangewood Children and Family Center, one of the region’s most important non-profits for protecting youth.
Shop at the boutique Pearl Ivy in Dana Point, take a dip in the pool at the VEA Newport Beach Marriott or charter a boat on the bay at the Balboa Bay Resort.
“This year’s launch was designed as an American-inspired summer party, celebrating both Newport Beach’s 120th anniversary and America’s 250th year,” Lowe said. “Kelsey Events transformed the Glass House [venue] at Lido House into the perfect backdrop for the evening, bringing together Orange County icons to celebrate the community that makes Newport Beach and coastal Orange County such a remarkable place.”

In the crowd for the summer evening event were Lido House founder and President Bob Olson with Dali Despotovic, Lindsay and John Pomer, Linda and Burton Young, Linda and Burton Young, and Renée and Stan Lowe, parents of Catherine Lowe.
Also, front and center were interior designer Shannon McLaren and fashion influencer Sabrina Chazen.

Newport Beach Mayor Lauren Klienman officially welcomed the fourth edition to the community. Special guest Shirley Pepys, president of Balboa Island Museum and grandmother of the publisher on hand for the celebration, was also seen at the scene.
