Briefs: UCI’s Kearney honored

UC Irvine junior Chris Kearney was named Big West Conference Co-Athlete of the Week in men’s tennis on Wednesday.

Kearney, who is ranked No. 33 nationally, went 1-1 in both singles and doubles last week, helping his team to a 6-1 victory over South Carolina at the ITA Kickoff Weekend. His singles win was a 6-3, 6-3 verdict over Ivan Machado of South Carolina. The doubles victory came with partner Stephen Stege.

He shares the award with Alex Konigsfeldt of UC Santa Barbara.

Car wash today

Costa Mesa High baseball players and the program’s supporters will be washing cars to raise money at Harbor Trinity Church in Costa Mesa today from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Mustangs are asking for a $5 donation and they will wash your car.

Harbor Trinity Church is at 1230 Baker Street.
