NEWPORT BEACH — Senior Mary Yeager scored two goals for the Sailors in the Sunset League finale and Newport’s senior night Thursday.

Senior Megan Khademi had a goal and an assist and senior Natalie Swift added goal. Junior goalie Emily Browne had 10 saves for the Sailors (7-11-3, 6-4 in league), who finished third in league.

CIF Southern Section Division I pairings will be released Monday.

Sage Hill 4, Brethren Christian 1

NEWPORT COAST — Maddie Culberson, Sophia Witte, Rannah Dabiri and Francesca D’Agostino all scored for the Lightning in their Academy League finale Thursday at Sage Hill.

Alli Mowrey and Victoria Weber had assists for Sage Hill (11-8-2, 6-3-1 in league). Paige Krueger had three saves.

The Lightning finished third in league and now wait for the release of the CIF Southern Section Division VI playoff brackets Monday.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Sage Hill 5, Brethren Christian 1

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Jack Percival had three goals and an assist for the Lightning in the Academy League finale Thursday.

Taylor Ross scored two goals and Colton Gyulay added two assists for Sage Hill (10-5-2, 5-3-2 in league), which finished third in league.

The defense was led by Ryan Fishel, Eric Cheng and Julius Herzlinger, who made the job easy for freshman goalkeeper Adam Ellingson.

The Lightning now await CIF Southern Section playoff pairings, which will be released Monday.

Huntington Beach 49, Newport Harbor 42

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Cody Caldwell scored 16 points to lead the Sailors in the Sunset League finale Thursday.

Carter Fortier had nine points for Newport Harbor (9-16, 1-9 in league).

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Huntington Beach 61, Newport Harbor 48

NEWPORT BEACH — Senior center Alex Morton had 25 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Sailors on senior night Thursday, when they closed out Sunset League play.

Junior Kasey Thompson had 14 points and 13 rebounds for Newport Harbor (11-15, 2-8 in league), which is seeking an at-large berth in the CIF Southern Section playoffs. Pairings will be released on Sunday.

Coach Justin Long played his entire team.

Sophomore Cora Tsamados scored four points, junior Taylor Bower had two points and senior Clare Doolin played tough defense during her playing time.
