Briefs: Team USA falls in FINA shootout
TIANJIN, China — The United States women’s water polo national team, which features Newport Harbor High alumna Anne Belden and Corona del Mar alumna Tumua Anae, fell in a shootout to Greece in its third match at the FINA World League Super Final on Thursday.
Greece won in the shootout, 11-10, coming back from a 7-5 deficit entering the fourth quarter. Neither Belden nor Anae played in the game.
Despite the loss, Team USA (2-1) won its three-team group and plays Canada on Friday in a crossover game.

Holes in one at Costa Mesa Country Club
There have been some golfers who recorded a hole-in-one recently at Costa Mesa Golf & Country Club, pro Brad Booth said.
Brad Wilson had a hole-in-one with a five-iron on No. 11, on the Los Lagos course, 164 yards. Dan Smith was a witness.
Tom Maxwell recorded an ace on Mesa Linda’s No. 8 with a nine-iron. Joan Ting also had an ace on No. 8 with a nine-iron.
David Dunner had a hole-in-one on Mesa Linda’s No. 6 with a nine-iron.
Joan Karlzen’s ace came on Mesa Linda’s No. 2 with a seven-iron.
