HUNTINGTON BEACH — Alex Holbrook had 15 kills to help the Sailors to a 27-25, 28-26, 25-16 Sunset League win Tuesday.

Kasey Thompson had 11 kills, Claire Castillo had 10 kills and four blocks, Allison Chelin had five kills and three digs, Tatum Norton had 13 digs and Biz Buckingham had four digs for Newport Harbor (13-5, 2-2 in league), ranked No. 4 in the CIF Southern Section Division I-AA coaches’ poll.

Sailors senior Cinnamon Sary added 31 assists, six kills and four digs.

NEWPORT COAST — Maggie Danner had 10 kills, 15 digs and five aces to help the Lightning to a 21-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-15 Academy League win Tuesday.

Zoe Kreitenberg had nine kills, two blocks and two aces, and Maddy Abbott had 37 assists for Sage Hill (13-5, 3-1 in league), ranked No. 4 in the CIF Southern Section Division IV-AA coaches’ poll.

The Lightning play at Crean Lutheran Friday at 5 p.m.

NEWPORT BEACH — Kimberly Brown swept at No. 2 singles for the Lightning in the Academy League match Tuesday at The Tennis Club Newport Beach.

Casey Astorino and Lauren Hsu swept at No. 2 doubles, while Tess Alexander and Abby Ruck swept at No. 3 doubles for Sage (7-3, 4-1 in league), ranked No. 3 in the CIF Southern Section Division III coaches’ poll.

Sage Hill plays at rival St. Margaret’s Friday. The Tartans are ranked No. 2 in CIF Division III.

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Blake Bakkila swept at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for the Sailors in the Sunset League match Tuesday.

Christina Young won at No. 1 doubles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 with partners Robin Young and Kate Knight for Newport Harbor (9-1, 3-0 in league), ranked No. 2 in the CIF Southern Section Division II coaches’ poll.

The Sailors play at Marina Wednesday.

FIELD HOCKEY

NEWPORT BEACH — The Sailors had five different goal scorers in the Sunset League game Tuesday at Davidson Field.

Seniors Emily Mitchell, Hannah Beek, Annie Pyle, Kelly Kindgren and Courtney McIntosh scored one goal each with Allie Pantoskey assisting on one.

Newport Harbor plays at Fountain Valley on Thursday.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Corona del Mar 14, University 5

IRVINE — Kyle Trush (one steal, one block) and Ben Zepfel (drew three ejections) scored three goals each for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Tuesday.

Ari Marks (four assists, two steals, one block), Reid Chase (two goals, two steals), Kyle Kreunen (two goals, one assist) and Charlie Howarth (one goal, one assist, one steal, drew one ejection) also contributed, while goalie AJ Santa Maria had 13 saves for CdM (12-3, 4-0 in league), ranked No. 1 in the CIF Southern Section Division II coaches’ poll.

Uni is ranked No. 8 in CIF Division II.

SANTA ANA — Senior driver Max Hume recorded four goals in the Eagles’ two pool-play losses on Monday.

Brody Hensheid made a couple of steals and scored four goals for Estancia (5-8), which lost to University, 15-5, and Rancho Alamitos, 15-7.

The Eagles return to the tournament on Saturday at Santa Ana Valley at 8 a.m.

Los Al wins on sixth player score

LONG BEACH — Charlotte Skjonsby and Tara Hanna both shot five-over-par 41 for the Sailors in the Sunset League match at El Dorado Park Golf Course Tuesday.

Kate Lamas (43), Lauren Willard (48) and Hanna Perry (60) also scored for Newport Harbor (8-7, 2-3 in league).

Los Al’s sixth player score was 55 and Newport’s sixth was 62.
