Fight Club OC returns to Costa Mesa

Fight Club OC’s opening night is Thursday at the Hangar at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa.

Fight Club OC, which heads into its second year, has a six-bout show planned, four in boxing and two in mixed martial arts.

Heavyweight Alexander Flores (7-0, five knockouts) headlines the event. Flores, out of Rowland Heights, fights Redwood City’s Yohan Banks (4-6-3, two knockouts).

Santa Ana’s Abigail Castaneda (1-0) squares off in a women’s bantamweight bout against New York’s Susana Mellone, who is looking for her first win.

Other fights pit Hawaiian Garden’s Eric Mendez (1-0) against Riverside’s John Worthy (1-3) in a light middleweight bout and Texas’ Jose Hernandez (11-5-1, five knockouts) in bout against veteran Jaime Orrantia, who lives in Lakeside.

In MMA action, two 155-pound fights are on tap.

Costa Mesa’s Nick Reale (7-6) faces Jason Williams (3-5) and Corona’s Mike Arellano (3-8) fights Anaheim’s Darren Smith (3-1).

“I think fight fans in Southern California have embraced our new Fight Club OC concept and they also think the Hangar is the best small venue in the country,” Fight Club OC Promoter Roy Englebrecht of Newport Beach said in a press release.

Englebrecht said about 100 tickets, priced at $50 each, remain for Thursday’s show. Tickets can be purchased at https://www.fightcluboc.com, by calling (909) 744-4867 and at the Hangar box office.
