Men’s Basketball: UCI’s Davis shines

UC Irvine junior Will Davis has been named Big West Conference Player of the Week in men’s basketball.

Davis, a 6-foot-8 forward, shot 73.1% from the field (making 10 of 12 attempts) en route to 22 points to lead the Anteaters to an 86-72 nonconference win at Washington on Thursday. He also added seven rebounds and two blocked shots in 26 minutes.

Davis, the conference Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore, collected 12 points, three rebounds and two blocked shots in an 84-79 loss at Pacific on Nov. 12 and he finished the week with 13 points in just 11 minutes of a 110-73 home blowout of Pacifica on Sunday.

Davis averaged 15.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game for the week.
