Youth Scene: LB CBA too much for Cardinals

Laguna Beach Crescent Bay Advisors earned its third victory of the season Tuesday behind a no-hitter and potent offense that led to an 11-0 mercy-rule win over the visiting Laguna Niguel Cardinals in Little League AAA Division action.

Crescent Bay Advisors improved to 3-1 with the shutout in a game called after four innings. CBA put runners on base each inning as their bats came out hot. Ayrton Garcia and Jack Payne led the attack each going three for three. Garcia tripled and Payne had a walk-off home run. Nolan Naess was on base all three times he went to the plate, going two for two. Charlie Pillsbury added a base-clearing triple and was brilliant on the mound, pitching a no-hitter through the four innings. Pillsbury struck out nine and walked just one batter.

CBA's complete team effort included all 12 players reaching base in the game.

AAA Division

UPS 11, Zero Trash 8: On a warm Saturday afternoon, Zero Trash and UPS battled under the sun with UPS coming out on top.

Zero Trash got off to a nice start, leading 3-1 after 1 1/2 innings and was led by Maddox DeBretteville who singled and quickly stole three bases including home. UPS, however, quickly responded in the bottom of the second plating five runs to take a 6-3 lead. UPS had a big double by Spencer Klug that scored Jake Cutter. Kai Gillies, Luke Anderton and Luke Hendrickson were all brought home on another huge double. this one, by Jax Laluotte.

Not to be denied, Zero Trash came right back in the top of the third with four runs to go back in front, 7-6. Brandon Lindsay ripped a single and scored a run while Matthew Berk, Lucas Hagopian and Ryan Moelenhoff all scored.

Undaunted, UPS came back with five more runs in the bottom of the third with JD Dix getting a key hit to keep the rally going.

Aiden McDennon started on the mound for UPS and Anderton closed an excited game by both teams.

AA Division

La Sirena Grill 8 McKenna Audi 6: In a well-played and exciting game, La Sirena prevailed in the bottom of the fourth inning with a four-run rally capped off by Luke Fetzer's clutch walk-off single to center field.

Cade Anderton pitched 3 1/3 solid innings, striking out six and, at the plate, went two for two, earned a walk and scored the winning run. Jackson Baldwin, Oliver Rounaghi and Lucas Durand also had key hits in the final inning rally.

Camden Dowers and Micah Chavez provided McKenna with stellar pitching performances, while Dowers was also two for three at the plate. The hitting of Bronson Baylies (two for two) served as another highlight for McKenna.

Javier's 11 La Sirena Grill 10: Javier's prevailed in this nail-biter as La Sirena Grill was down by one run with two out in the final inning but loaded the bases before Javier's got the final out on a ground out at first base.

Javier's displayed outstanding hitting throughout, highlighted by Cole Curtis (three for three, two runs scored), Gehrig Mackay (two for two, two runs scored), and Logan Pointon (two for three, two runs scored). Javier's received solid pitching efforts from Pointon, Chase Bryan and Dylan McEachern.

La Sirena Grill had its chances, leaving the bases loaded in each of the four innings played. They kept it close with solid pitching from Ben Dawson and Cade Anderton, as well as outstanding fielding by Jackson Baldwin who threw two batters out from right field, and another from shortstop.
