Marilyn Byrnes: June 26, 1927 - April 23, 2012
Marilyn Byrnes, whose life was dedicated to the nurturing and well-being of her family, died peacefully the morning of April 23, 2012.
She was born in San Francisco on June 26, 1927 to Francis and Helen Collins and attended Ursuline School in Santa Rosa and Presentation Academy in San Francisco. She married David Byrnes in October 1949 and settled in Montrose, CA in 1952 where they raised their family. Marilyn and family were long time parishioner’s of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
After receiving her education and certification, she worked as a Respiratory Therapist at Burbank Community Hospital. Upon her retirement in 1987, she relocated to San Diego (Rancho Bernardo), CA.
Her favorite activities included golfing, working in her garden, visiting with friends and neighbors, cooking for her family and spending quality time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sisters Lois Collins of Kent, Washington and Dorothy Giberton of Belmont, CA and her ten children Karen Christian, Jamie (Paul) Schulz, Kevin (Maureen), Mick (Adele), Kean, Tim (Jan), Brian, Sean (Cindy), Maura (Robert) Moye, and Bridget (Mark) Holland.
Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Cannon and Griffin Christian, Matthew, David (Sarah) and Brenna Schulz, Ryan Byrnes, Emily (Daniel) Moynihan, Shawna and Collin Byrnes, Marissa Sagey, Keanna and Brayden Byrnes, Robert Caldera, Connor Byrnes, Hayden and Sarah, Byrnes, Kellene and Hannah Moye, Carly and Quinn Holland and great grandchild, Nevan Schulz. A part of her lives on in each. She also leaves behind numerous Nieces, Nephews and Godchildren.
Marilyn, is now united with her beloved husband Dave who preceded her in death in 1971 as well as her sister Delores Fenton.
Services are scheduled at Mission San Fernando Rey de Espana on Friday May 4, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. followed by graveside service at San Fernando Mission Cemetery and officiated by Father Jack Foley. Arrangements coordinated by Mission Hills Catholic Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
