Marilyn “Skip” Flora passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 4th in the presence of her family. Skip was born on July 10, 1927 in Bellflower, CA. She attended Excelsior High School and the University of Redlands where she met and married the love of her life, Bill Flora who predeceased her in 2007. She called Burbank home for over 64 years.
Skip is survived by her three children, Peggy Kroener (Rodger), Jack Flora (Cindy), and Nancy Vincent; seven grandchildren, Julie Kroener, Mindy Ehret (Matt), Kathryn Munyon (Jake), Meagan John (Jordan), Mark Flora, Jennifer Vincent and John Vincent (Lindsey); and two great-grandchildren, Caleb Munyon and Daxton Ehret .
Skip taught nursery school at the Burbank First Methodist Church for 20 years. She was a longtime member of PEO; a strong supporter of the University of Redlands with continuing friendships in the Delta Kappa Psi Sorority; enjoyed being a Camp Fire Girls leader for 12 years; and was an active member of Burbank First Presbyterian Church where she continually volunteered her time, mentored others and shared her faith with those around her.
We would like to thank all of her supportive friends for their prayers, cards, and visits during this past two months. She really appreciated and felt all of your love and support.
Skip was caring, interested in, and accepting of all people. She was truly unique. In her radius of influence, wherever she went, the world and the people she met were better for having known her.
A memorial service will be held in the Burbank First Presbyterian Church Sanctuary at 10:00 on Saturday, August 11, 2012. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Lung Association in her name.
