Elizabeth Grace Haydock. Betsy was born on May 12, 1923 in St. Louis, Mo. to her parents William T. Haydock and Grace Gregory Haydock. Her parents and sister Mary Clay, pre-deceased her. Her parents left Missouri first for New Jersey then headed west for California where she grew up in Long Beach and Glendale, Ca. She graduated from UCLA, married and had two children. As a divorcee and single mother, she moved her family to Fresno where she taught elementary school for over 15 years. After retiring she moved to San Clemente, Ca. to be near the beach she loved and family where she thrived, until very recently, for over 27 years. Betsy passed away peacefully on July 27, 2012 in Beaumont, Ca.
Her son Brian P. Kane; her daughter Candace Kane; her grandson Ethan S. Kane; granddaughter Crystal B. Mulder; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild survive Betsy.
During her retirement, and even before, she found many small adventures to take herself on and, where practical include family members. Also, she continued to pursue her interest in genealogy throughout her life. Her guiding principle was the Golden Rule, “So in everything, do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” A principle she lived better than most and instilled in her progeny.
In lieu of flowers donations to the American Heart Assn or the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
