Jim passed away on July 22, 2013 from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. Born in Detroit, Michigan he and his family migrated to Glendale in 1945. He attended Mark Keppel, Toll and Hoover High. Following that was UCLA where he obtained a PhD. in Systems Engineering.

He worked many years at Librascope in Shipboard Engineering and Guidance & Control Systems. He eventually started his own company – Drugan Associates, Inc. This led to many happy years of commuting to Australia to help their navy with their first “in house submarine.”

California was his favorite place to be: wine tasting in the Napa Valley, backpacking and fishing in Mammoth and the high sierras, jazz at the Hollywood Bowl and golfing locally and in Palm Desert. As an avid golfer he spent many hours at Brookside and Oakmont Country Club.

Jim met his wife, Janice, while in high school and eventually married at the North Glendale Methodist Church in 1957. They raised three children in the surrounding communities of Lake View Terrace, Burbank and Glendale.

Jim is survived by his wife Jan, sons Scott (Marie), Steve (Tanya) and daughter Christine (Brian) and grand children: Christopher, Michelle, Daniel, Doug, Chloe, Nolan, Jane, Aaron, Abby and Geoff.

If at all inclined, donations in Jim’s name to the G.J. Liotta Scholarship fund at Glendale’s Toll Middle School would be a welcome memorial. Please make checks payable to C.F.V., with the other information on the memo line.
