Las Candelas received a certificate of appreciation from the YWCA of Glendale at its April meeting. Lisa Raggio, YWCA senior director, made the presentation to President Jeannie Flint. Las Candelas then presented a check to Raggio for the YWCA’s community services.

Raggio thanked the group for its continued support of the YWCA’s programs. The YWCA seeks to empower and serve female military veterans. It also provides shelter and services for victims of domestic violence.

In fiscal year 2013, the women’s shelter took in 43 families (83 individuals). In addition, more than 229 women received case management services and more than 125 hours of mental health services were provided to children.
