Congratulations: Residents’ work displayed in art society’s show

Local residents who are members of the Pasadena Society of Artists are featured in an art show called the Artist Choice Exhibition at the Citibank Silver Lake Branch, 2450 Glendale Blvd., Los Angeles.

They are Robin Cohen, Francis Robin Cohen, Victor Picou and Barbara Thor-Otto, all of Burbank; and Knarik Gevorkyan and Jackie Steimke of Glendale.

This exhibition continues until Nov. 28 with a Peoples Choice Award Reception from 2 to 5 p.m. Nov. 27.

Gallery hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday; 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

There is also an art shop where the public can purchase artistic merchandize.

Serving in the military

Air Force Airman 1st Class Erick L. Bittinger graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.

He is the son of Lambert and Diana Bittinger of La Crescenta. The airman is a 2002 graduate of South High School in Torrance.

Army National Guard Pvt. Nicholas V. Gallegos has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood in Waynesville, Mo.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons, rifle marksmanship qualification, bayonet combat, chemical warfare, field training and tactical exercises, marches, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, traditions and core values.

He is the son of Patricio Gallegos of Glendale. Gallegos is a 2010 graduate of Glendale High School.

Navy Seaman Recruit Brandon K. Taylor, son of Lorie Taylor of La Crescenta, and Warren E. Taylor, of Glendale, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

During the eight-week program, Taylor completed a variety of training that included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

Taylor is a 2004 graduate of Village Christian School of Sun Valley.
