Elderly pedestrian struck, killed in Glendale

Share

An older woman died Saturday evening after being hit by a car on Doran Street near Glendale Avenue, police said.

A car travelling west on Doran Street hit the 88-year-old Glendale resident, whose identity was not released, at about 6:30 p.m. She was not in a crosswalk, Glendale police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

Firefighters and paramedics arrived and attempted to resuscitate the woman, but were not successful. Police are currently evaluating whether the driver, who remained on scene, was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

“Fire almost pulled off a miracle, but when you’re elderly, it’s hard,” Lorenz said.
