Glendale man faces stalking charges

A 48-year-old Glendale man pleaded not guilty Wednesday to stalking a married woman whom he allegedly followed, threatened to kill and whose car he hit with his vehicle in order to get her attention, police said.

Gamlet Sarkisyan faces felony charges for stalking and assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury, according to a Los Angeles County Superior Court complaint. He is being held in lieu of $400,000 bail.

Sarkisyan was arrested Sunday at a motel in Eagle Rock for not only allegedly stalking the Glendale woman, but also on an outstanding warrant for stealing clothes from Nordstrom Rack, according to Glendale Police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.

The 38-year-old woman reported Sarkisyan to police on Saturday after he reportedly violated a restraining order, which she obtained in September after he physically assaulted her, Lightfoot added.

Sarkisyan had already fled when police arrived responding to the assault, but they soon learned that he had been stalking the woman for six months, Lightfoot said.

After meeting Sarkisyan in an appraiser course in Glendale in April, the woman’s life quickly spiraled out of her control.

He inundated her with unwanted gifts and followed her and her family around Glendale, Lightfoot said. Sarkisyan reportedly visited her workplace, where he caused disturbances in front of her co-workers.

Sarkisyan reportedly entered her home through an unlocked window to profess his love for her, Lightfoot said.

At one point, Sarkisyan reportedly used his vehicle to hit the rear and sides of her car and demanded she stop to talk to him, she added.

Soon after, police said, his behavior became volatile.

Sarkisyan visited the woman’s home on Sept. 14, pushed the front door open and grabbed her arms and wrists, Lightfoot said, adding that he pushed her away and left red marks on her.

The following day, he followed her to a church in North Hollywood, where he reportedly harassed her and threw a water bottle at her.

Sarkisyan is expected to appear Nov. 14 in Los Angeles Superior Court in Burbank for a bail hearing.
