A Glendale man was killed Friday morning after a vehicle struck him while he was standing outside his car on a freeway transition road in Eagle Rock, according to authorities.

Joseph Francisco Chang, 34, was killed sometime around 9:40 a.m. while he stood next to his car in the transition road between the eastbound Ventura (134) Freeway and northbound Glendale (2) Freeway. Officer Xavier Bejar, a spokesman with the California Highway Patrol, said it’s unknown why or exactly where Chang was standing in the road.

Bejar said detectives are investigating his death as a possible suicide.
