La Crescenta residents received a rude awakening Wednesday morning after roughly 30 cars were broken into overnight, police say.

The thefts occurred sometime late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning when thieves smashed the windows of vehicles parked near Montrose and Pennsylvania avenues. Tahnee Lightfoot, a spokeswoman for the Glendale Police Department, said the thieves also stole two vehicles from the area.

It’s unknown how many people were involved in the thefts, and the incidents remain under investigation.

Anyone who was a potential victim of the break-ins should contact the police department at (818) 548-4911. Residents with video security systems are also encouraged to check their surveillance footage to see if they recorded any suspicious people or vehicles during the time of the thefts.

The footage can be sent directly to Lightfoot at tlightfoot@glendaleca.gov.
