JOSEPH F. ACKERMAN

Joseph F. Ackerman, 86, a former longtime Glendale resident, died

Sept. 19, 2002.

Mr. Ackerman was born July 7, 1916, in Okmulgee, Okla.

He came to Los Angeles in 1941 and worked at Lockheed during the

war.

Prior to retiring in 1977, he was the owner of Safe Way

Laboratories in Los Angeles.

He was the founder of the Glendale Batting Cage.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marian; daughters and

sons-in-law, Karen and Joseph Sullivan, and Julie and Scott Anderson;

sons and daughter-in-laws, Joseph and Tamara, Alan and Joanne, and

Mark and Kim; 13 grandchildren; sister, Afra Rogers and

brother-in-law, Ralph; and 19 nephews and 10 nieces.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Reardon’s Mortuary,

2636 Sycamore Drive, Simi Valley.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Claver

Catholic Church in Simi Valley.

Burial will be at San Fernando Mission Cemetery.

Reardon’s Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
