Deputies Reviewed for Misconduct

Two Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies continue to be restricted from working in the field while the Office of Independent Review probes into claims the partners included false statements in a police report.

CV Station Capt. Tim Peters said the case involves a single police report filed more than one year ago and said the deputies, whose names are being withheld, will continue with office work while the investigation is pending.

“The purpose of the investigation is to try to make a determination on the culpability of the deputies involved,” he said.

A decision in the case will be required by November, one year after it was made available for administrative review, said Peters.

A case against a third CV deputy has been deemed unresolved, as no official charges have been filed and no independent witnesses found to substantiate claims that a deputy, whose name also was withheld, assaulted his ex-wife during an argument.

The officer in that case is not on restricted duty, Peters said.
