Hoover gets 3rd, CV in 4th
As a result of a Pacific League meeting on Friday, the league’s boys’ basketball placement from second to fourth was determined after a three-way, second-place tie was broken.
Based on overall head-to-head competition, Burroughs High will enter next week’s CIF Southern Section Division II-AA playoffs as the No. 2 seed from the league, Hoover will be the third-place seed and Crescenta Valley will be the fourth league representative.
Burroughs, which finished 13-13 overall and 9-5 in league like the rest of the trio, was 3-1 in games against Hoover and Crescenta Valley and, therefore, will be the league’s No. 2 seed.
Hoover (15-11) went 2-2, while Crescenta Valley (17-9) went 1-3.
It is likely six of the eight Pacific League teams will make the postseason, with Pasadena having won the league title and Glendale (13-13) and Burbank (16-11) having garnered the 12 wins mandatory to petition for an at-large bid.
Crescenta Valley, Glendale and Burbank are all likely to receive wild-card berths when the pairings are announced Sunday.
