Founders Day celebration Sunday

This Sunday, March 2 is the date for the Montrose Founders Day celebration. The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the 2200 block of Honolulu Avenue. From 11 a.m. to noon, awards and proclamations will be presented. In addition, the Glendale City Council will present a resolution to the Montrose Shopping Park Association designating the 95-year-old district “Glendale’s Official Old-town.” There is no charge to attend and everyone is welcome.

Woman’s Club plans fashion show

The La Crescenta Woman’s Club is accepting reservations for their upcoming fashion show that is taking place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 15. The event is being held at their clubhouse at 4004 La Crescenta Ave., La Crescenta.

This year’s theme is “Passport to Fashion,” with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit the YWCA of Glendale Domestic Violence Program and the American Cancer Society’s local services.

Tickets are $25 and can be reserved by calling Dea McCrory at (818) 368-9393. Reservations are required.

In other LCWC news, the club celebrated its 97th birthday recently with a bash that featured several past presidents as guests, the induction of new members and special music provided by Jon Karn, singing pastor of Light on the Corner Church in Montrose.

Art Association plans exhibit

The Sunland/Tujunga Art Association is presenting an art show/exhibit “Jewels of Our Foothills” that will launch on March 15 at the McGroarty Arts Center in Tujunga. The reception will be on March 15 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Arts Center located at 7570 McGroarty Terrace. The show will then travel to the La Cañada Library in April; the Tujunga Library in May; the Montrose Library in June; ending at Bolton Hall Museum in Tujunga in July.

The art association boasts membership of artists from all over the Verdugo Hills area, from La Cañada to Sunland, and into the San Fernando Valley.

Taste of Montrose date announced

The second annual Taste of Montrose will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, announced event organizers. It will be held along Honolulu Avenue in conjunction with the Montrose Shopping Park’s Kids n’ Kritters and Wags n’ Whiskers events and the weekly Harvest Market. The Taste of Montrose offers ticket-holders the opportunity to sample the fare from many local eateries. Tickets are $20 and will be available beginning in April but can be reserved now by calling (818) 248-2740. Proceeds benefit CVHS Prom Plus.
