The Advanced Technology Division at Glendale Community College will have a two-day Tech Expo on Tuesday and Thursday. GCC students, high school students, parents and members of the community are invited to attend the event from noon to 6 p.m. both days in the Advanced Technology Center on campus.

Admission is free. Information on certificate and associate degrees in architecture, engineering, drafting and CAD, manufacturing technology and CAD/CAM, electronics and computer integrated manufacturing technology and welding will be available as well as information on the variety of advanced technology software classes offered by GCC.

There will be tours of the departments and demonstrations of work done by GCC students in the various technologies. Industry representatives will also be on hand to discuss career opportunities.

FREE CLASS OFFERED FOR HEARING IMPAIRED

A free lip-reading course for the hearing impaired is offered by the GCC Lifelong Learning Seminars program. The class meets from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Mondays and Thursdays through June 9 at the Glendale Adult Recreation Center, 201 E. Colorado St. The class is open entry and registration can be done in the classroom at any class meeting.

The course is designed to improve communication skills for those who are hearing impaired. It is especially beneficial to seniors with any type of hearing loss. Speech therapist Stela Fejtek is the instructor. She has a master’s degree in communicative disorders from Cal State Northridge. ? ART CLASSES BEING HELD FOR SENIORS

Free art classes for seniors are offered this spring semester by the Lifelong Learning Seminars program. Oil Painting meets from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturdays at Sparr Heights Community Center, 1613 Glencoe. It is an introduction to the methods of painting. No experience is necessary.

A sketching course is also offered. It meets from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Mondays. All skill levels are welcome. Beginners will learn the basics and experienced students will learn more advanced drawing skills.

Beginning April 24, a watercolor painting class will meet for seven weeks from noon to 2:30 p.m. on Thursdays.

The sketching and watercolor classes also meet at Sparr Heights Community Center and are taught by Janet Olenik. Registration may be completed online at www.glendale.edu/ce or at any class meeting.
