GLENDALE COMMUNITY COLLEGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING WRAP-UP

Trustees decided to hire the recruitment firm Robert Half International to identify candidates for the college’s associate vice president of information technology services position, which is vacant.

WHAT IT MEANS

The recruitment services provided by the firm will include things like advertising the position, screening the candidates and checking references. The firm will be paid if the college hires a candidate located by the firm. If a candidate is hired, the firm will be paid 25% of the first year’s salary of the new hire.

Trustees approved a revised version of the college’s mission statement. Trustees discussed the mission statement at their board retreat on Feb. 8.

WHAT IT MEANS

The college is updating its mission statement as part of its strategic planning process.

Trustees decided to vote for six candidates for the California Community College Trustees board of directors. The 21-member board of directors works on education policy issues with the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges system.

WHAT IT MEANS

The trustees had the option of voting for 10 candidates, one for each vacancy on the state board, but they opted to select six candidates.

The trustees voted for candidates from the community college districts of Santa Monica, Los Rios, Riverside, Foothill-DeAnza, Citrus and State Center. Elections will take place across the state between March 10 and April 25. The winning candidates will serve two-year terms on the state board.
