Mommy & Me program

Chabad of Glendale and the Foothill Communities offers a Mommy & Me program at the chabad at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays.

Meet and spend time with other moms living in the area while the little ones enjoy new friendships and quality playtime.

Children are introduced to basic Jewish values and traditions. These are integrated through art, music and movement in a warm, creative atmosphere.

The program is offered for children as young as 6 months.

Men’s breakfast, ‘Labor of Love’

First Baptist Church of La Crescenta presents a men’s breakfast the fourth Saturday (the next is May 24) of every month at 7 a.m. in the church. The breakfast is open to all men, not just to those who are working with the Labor of Love. Enjoy a great breakfast and devotion. The cost for breakfast is $5. After breakfast there will be an opportunity to do odd jobs around the houses of those who need it.

New overflow ministry

Overflow is Crescenta Valley Community Church’s newest ministry with a focus on serving the people of the Crescenta Valley and beyond.

Join Overflow in blessing local teachers throughout the year. Become an ambassador to a local school. Be a part of the outreach planning team or be a part of the prayer support team. Participate by being notified of outreach events.

Three Sunday courses offered

Adults are able to choose from three courses on Sunday mornings. All classes are held on the La Crescenta Presbyterian Church campus, at 2902 Montrose Ave. in La Crescenta.

 “What did Jesus do on a rainy day?”

Led by Jim Larson, this course explores the connection between the Old and New Testaments through Jesus’ teachings, particularly his use of quotes from the Torah, the Psalms and the prophets.

The class is held 9 a.m. Sundays.

 “Raising children of faith”

Led by Ashley Fernandez and Carrie Hoffman, this class leads parents through the Home Builders Couples Series. Learn how to deal with the hard issues of parenting and build a home that honors God. The class is on Sundays and begins at 9 a.m.

 “Jesus’ words to you today”

Taught by elder George Buehler, this class focuses on Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount.

What would Jesus say to you if he were here in the flesh and you could sit at his feet? Engage with Jesus and the Holy Spirit in study and contemplation. Classes are held Sundays at 10:45 a.m. For more information on this and other classes, call the church at (818) 249-6137.

Church offers Mom’s Day Out

Mom’s Day Out is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of La Crescenta. For more information or to sign children up, call the church office at (818) 249-5832. First Baptist Church of La Crescenta is at 4441 La Crescenta Ave.

St. Luke’s Soup Group ministry

Soup Group is a ministry to the seniors of St. Luke’s of the Mountains, providing an opportunity to share communion, fellowship and friendship.

Soup Group meets at 11:30 a.m. the third Wednesday (the next is April 16) of the month in the parish hall to celebrate the Holy Eucharist followed by lunch.

Transportation is provided if needed.

Hunger Ministry needs food items

Every first Sunday (the next is May 4), Crescenta Valley United Methodist Church congregants are invited to bring canned goods and other nonperishable foods for the Food Pantry that operates out of Tujunga United Methodist Church. Place contributions in the colorful box located downstairs in the Fellowship Hall.

Mother’s Day Tea is this Sunday, May 4

Holy Redeemer and St. James the Less parishes present its first Mother’s Day Tea at noon May 4 in Healy Hall at Holy Redeemer Church.

Enjoy traditional tea hosted and served by the Boy Scout troops of both churches.

Tickets are $20 each and are available in the courtyard after all Masses. Proceeds benefit the church’s’ Boy Scout troops.

Gift Basket raffle tickets will be available at the event for an additional fee.

CVCC’s Touched by an Angel ministry

Crescenta Valley Community Church’s Touched by an Angel ministry exists to provide meals to those who call Crescenta Valley Community Church their church home, and to anyone else in the surrounding community who needs assistance.

Touched by an Angel volunteers assist on a rotational basis, and prepare and deliver meals as the needs arises, for a limited period of time.

Touched by an Angel meets seven-days-a-week from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at various homes.
