Fundraiser deemed a success

On Saturday, April 12, 120 members and guests of the La Crescenta Woman’s Club Evening Section kicked up their heels to Greek and Armenian music and enjoyed an assortment of Middle Eastern dishes.

Simon Oksazian provided a rich mixture of Greek and Armenian music, and 40 dancers from his international dance group performed. Simon’s services were his donation to the Club. “It’s all for a good cause and we are here to help each other,” he said.

A corner tent added flavor to the theme by displaying bazaar items for sale. Members and guests enjoyed a pleasant evening full of music, dance, food and camaraderie.

Kathy Parenteau, the curator for the club, said an estimated $1,000 in net proceeds was raised. The money will be disbursed to charitable organizations such as Montrose Search and Rescue, Ahead with Horses, and the American Heart Association. .

Silva Varbedian, the organizer of this event, praised the members of the Evening Section for their commitment and support.

“Words cannot describe their dedication and help,” Varbedian said. “Corinne Adams, Daryl Baker-Pollack, Gloria Beyer, Jonelle Bisetti, Genny Bundick, Cindy Charles, Tamara Huges, Marianne Jennings, Angie Perry, Kathy Parenteau — the list is endless. These outstanding ladies turned this event into an outstanding success.”
