Zarian to discuss code enforcement

Neighborhood Services Administrator Sam Engel is scheduled to appear live on “The Larry Zarian Show” today to talk about the city’s code enforcement issues.

Common complaints about neighbors leaving items like trash and electronics in the public right-of-way, graffiti and other eyesores, and how Engel’s department handles them, will take up the majority of the live call-in show.

Engel will also discuss the processes and systems that residents can use to help mitigate the public nuisances.

The show airs at 7 p.m. today on Channel 280.

Rockhaven input meeting planned

City officials will hold a community meeting May 31 to update the public on the initial physical and historic assessment of the former site of the Rockhaven Sanitarium, which the City Council purchased in April for $8.25 million.

Residents will also be briefed on future cleanup, tree-trimming and landscape abatement plans for the historic site.

The 3.3-acre site at 2713 Honolulu Ave., which includes 14 “potentially significant” historic buildings.

The meeting will be from 10 a.m. to noon on May 31 at 4717 Dunsmore Ave. in La Crescenta.
