Library seeking a few good children

Children 5 to 8 years old, together with their parents, are being sought out to be part of the live audience for “Tree House Tales,” a televised library story program that airs on GTV6.

Six new episodes will be taped in the Children’s Room at the Central Library, 222 E. Harvard St., on Nov. 19 and 20.

The first episode will begin taping each day at 3:15 p.m. and will end at 6:30 p.m. Advance registration is required.

Ride on Rose float is up for grabs

The deadline to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to ride on “Sneak Preview,” Glendale’s float in the 2009 Rose Parade, is Monday.

The winner will be selected that day, and all requests for raffle tickets must be received by then to be eligible.

Tickets are $10, and 200 will be sold.

Nominations for awards sought

Soroptimist International of Glendale is accepting applications for its Women’s Opportunity Awards 2009.

Deadline is Dec. 31.

These awards are for women who are attending, or have been accepted to, a vocations/skills training program, or an undergraduate degree program.

The cash awards may be used for any expenses that are related to recipients’ educational pursuits.
