GLENDALE ADVENTIST MEDICAL CENTER

Glendale Adventist Medical Center is looking for responsible adults who are interested in helping patients and visitors at the medical center. Volunteers assist in greeting visitors, working at information desks, escorting patients to various out-patient services, assisting at patient care units including the ER and SICU, helping customers at the gift shop and more. Volunteers receive monthly training, parking and meals. Flexible scheduling and free uniforms are available. No experience is required. Glendale Memorial Hospital is accepting new volunteers from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers who can deliver meals to homebound seniors during the weekday lunch hour. Volunteers are also needed for our after-school program weekdays between 3 and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Volunteers are also needed for Safe Place, a program for youth in crisis. YWCA OF GLENDALE

The YWCA of Glendale is looking for volunteers to help staff its New to You thrift shop at the YWCA, 735 E. Lexington Drive, Glendale. Adults and teenagers 16 years of age or older are needed between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The most urgent need is between 9 a.m. to noon daily. High school students may earn community service hours for their work. Duties include opening and closing the store, assisting customers, receiving and sorting donations and light housekeeping. GLENDALE ADVENTIST MEDICAL CENTER

Glendale Adventist Medical Center has launched the Protective Companion Volunteer Program and is looking for volunteers, under the direction of a registered nurse, who will provide beside visits with patients who are at risk for falls or other safety hazards. Volunteers will sit beside, talk to and engage patients in various activities. Volunteers can be retired patient care personnel, pre-nursing students, pre-med students and many other individuals interested in health care or service to the community, including service clubs and church groups who can participate collectively or individually. Volunteers and groups may select weeks throughout the year when they are will willing to be on call. Orientation classes are beginning now. GLENDALE COMMUNITY CENTER

The Glendale Community Center, a program of Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, is looking for volunteers to help staff their food pantry, Loaves and Fishes at 4322 San Fernando Road, Glendale. Adults and teenagers, 16 years of age or older, are needed between 9 a.m. to noon, and 1 to 4 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Loaves and Fishes is a human service provider to low income families, homeless people, and homeless-at-risk youth regardless of race, gender, or religious belief.
