Bras for a Cause coming up

Soroptimist International of Glendale is having its sixth annual fundraiser, Bras for a Cause. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 18 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Glendale. There will be dinner, music, live and silent auctions, opportunity prizes and a viewing of decorated bras. Funds raised will benefit breast cancer services at Glendale Adventist Medical Center, Glendale Memorial Hospital, Verdugo Hills Hospital and other charities that improve the lives of women and girls. Country Fair is coming to town

The fourth annual Hometown Country Fair, hosted by the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce, takes place Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 25 at Crescenta Valley Park. From 3 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, the fair will feature a carnival, beer garden, live music, pet parade, car show, barbecue, vendors and on Saturday, an appearance by L.A. Kings mascot, Bailey.

There is no fee for admission. The park is located at 3901 Dunsmore Ave. at the corner of Honolulu and Dunsmore avenues.

Wouldn’t you really rather have a Buick?

An all-Buick car show is being held at Crescenta Valley Park from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 2. The salute to the Buick will showcase several of the brand’s best- selling and highly-regarded models. The annual event is hosted by the San Gabriel Valley Chapter of the Buick Club of America. There is no charge to attend; food will be available for purchase or those attending can bring a picnic lunch. An expected 100 cars will be on site.

Deadline extended for film festival apps

The CV Arts Council is has extended its deadline for applications for its inaugural Crescenta Valley Film Festival taking place at 7 p.m. on May 2 at the Center for Spiritual Living, 4845 Dunsmore Ave. in La Crescenta. The festival will showcase the work of filmmakers from the foothills, Glendale, Burbank and Pasadena.

The deadline to submit an application is April 24. The submission fee is $20 adult, $15 for applicants under 18. For information and applications, visit the website at www.crescentavalleyartscouncil.org.

Taste of Montrose tickets now on sale

Tickets for the third annual Taste of Montrose are now on sale. The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, May 3 along Honolulu. An expected 20 restaurants will offer a sample of their fare. Tickets are $20 and available at Merle Norman Cosmetics, Crescenta Valley High School, the UPS Stores in Montrose and La Crescenta and the local chambers of commerce.
