UNIVERSITY WOMEN PRESENT SCHOLARSHIPS

The American Assn. of University Women, Glendale Branch awarded scholarship grants on May 9.

Recipients were Adena Stepanosian, Clark Magnet High School; Olivia Trimis, Crescenta Valley High School; Samira Haidamia, Glendale High School; Grace Lee, Hoover High School; Diedre Diekmann, Daily High School/Verdugo Academy; Jina Haleksarkissian, Glendale Community College; Sona Arakelyan, Glendale Community College.

The guest speaker for the gathering, Myrna Oliver, inspired the crowd with her story, knowing she wanted to write since she had been a little girl, and becoming a reporter for the Los Angeles Times.

Her theme was “Finding your passion and staying true to it.”

Also introduced were Abbie Pajulas and Erika Aguilar, Roosevelt Middle School students, who have been selected to attend Tech Trek, a weeklong summer camp for girls interested in science at Whittier College.
