Glendale Panthers set to hold tryouts

The Glendale YMCA Panthers will conduct tryouts for the upcoming season.

The tryouts for boys and girls will be held Saturday and Nov. 1 at the Glendale YMCA, 140 N. Louise St., Glendale. The tryouts are geared for boys ages 7-13 and girls ages 8-14.

Age levels are determined by one’s age on Sept. 1, 2009. Parents must attend and sign-up their children at the session.

For Saturday, tryouts for boys 7-8 and all girls will be from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m.; boys 9-10 from 2:30 to 3:15 p.m.; boys 11-12 from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. and boys 13 from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m.

For Nov. 1, tryouts for boys 7-8 and all girls is from noon to 12:45 p.m.; boys 9-10 from 1 to 1:45 p.m.; boys 11-12 from 2 to 2:45 p.m. and boys 13 from 3 to 3:45 p.m.

Practices will be held in November and December. The season, which will begin in January and conclude March 21, will feature games around Glendale and the San Fernando Valley.

Glendale Friendship Games are set

The Homenetmen Glendale Ararat chapter will host the fourth annual Glendale Friendship Games for the Glendale and surrounding communities. The games will take place Saturday and Sunday at various locations around Glendale and are designed to promote unity in a competitive manner.

Volleyball, basketball, tennis, table tennis, chess and soccer will be the featured sports.
