The city of Glendale’s skate park is celebrating its sixth anniversary of Equinox on Saturday. Special events throughout the day include Game of the Skate from 2 to 4 p.m. and the Best Trick Contest from 4 to 5 p.m. Games are free for those 18 and younger.

Then the day wraps up with a Battle of the Bands from 4 to 8 p.m., complete with concert-style stage and sound system.

There will be prizes given to the winners of each event, as well as free audience giveaways.

Booths will offer hair painting, board stenciling, Wii games and henna tattoos. The $3 fee is good toward food and games for those ages 13 to 18. For more information, call (818) 548-3785.

Skate park hours are 2 to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday for all ages; 10 a.m. to noon Saturday for ages 14 and younger; noon to 10 p.m. Saturday for all ages; and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday for all ages.

It’s free to residents, with a nominal fee for adult nonresidents. All skaters must have a valid release-of-liability form on file. Those 17 and younger are required to have a parent or guardian signature.
