Residents learn about smoke detectors

Glendale firefighters on Wednesday hosted a smoke detector workshop in honor of National Fire Prevention month, handing out and training residents on the proper use of the early warning devices.

Glendale fire officials said they wanted to reach out to residents about smoke detector safety following two recent fires in which smoke detectors were not found inside the homes.

The Fire Department partnered with the Home Depot to present the smoke detector workshop, for which the first 100 residents who signed up received a free detector with battery.
