Mailbag: One homeless shelter shows a need for more

One homeless shelter shows a need for more

In your coverage of the winter shelter, it is clear that many people who are homeless look forward to the Glendale National Guard Armory because operators provide food, shower facilities, social services, and beds for up to 150 people each night up to March 15. And the shelter staff meets with homeless men and women to help them with their more long-term needs.

This is wonderful — creating space for the homeless to sleep and getting their needs taken care of decreases the number of sick homeless men and women. I think cities should open up more homeless shelters so people in need can be taken care of.

Homeless shelters give hope to the homeless. Glendale- and Burbank-based hotels should help out and accept homeless families during the winter.
