Man arrested after stabbing

A Sunland man was charged with assault with a deadly weapon after a stabbing at a Glendale party Saturday morning.

Enrique Baraja, 24, was booked Saturday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after a fight at a party in the 3700 block of Altura Avenue, east of the 210 (Foothill) Freeway. The incident occurred at 3:40 a.m. Saturday.

Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said Baraja was arrested without incident shortly before noon Saturday in the 4200 block of Boston Avenue, about two blocks from the party.

Police search teams aided by police dogs found the man. Lorenz credited residents for helping with the search, but declined to specify their role in order to protect witnesses.

He said Baraja, who bears tattoos indicating affiliation with a Maywood gang, was “covered in dirt” and had been hiding in the brush when he was discovered.

Lorenz say Baraja used a knife to stab one man, whose injuries are not life-threatening. Another man suffered minor injuries when he tried to break up the fight.

Baraja is being held on $35,000 bail.
