Catherine Haldane Breslin, loving mother, friend and long time resident of La Crescenta passed away peacefully, January 1, 2011 at the age of 82.

Catherine was born February 29, 1928 in Pasadena, CA daughter of James and Janet Haldane, Galashiels, Scotland.

She is survived by four children, Janet Williams, of Payson, Arizona; William Silcock, of Spokane, Washington; Robert Silcock, of Sylmar, California and John P. Breslin, of La Crescenta, California, 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Catherine worked for the City of La Canada/Flintridge 12 years as a crossing guard and skate park attendant. She was recently awarded a service pin for her 12 years of dedication to the city as an invaluable asset and trainer for recreation specialists. She was loved by many citizens, children and employees throughout her tenure with La Canada/Flintridge City Park. She also loved the daily interacting with children and parents.

Catherine was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi, international philanthropic organization since 1954. She held many offices throughout the years and was the current President of Delta Master Chapter in Glendale, CA. She will be missed greatly.

She was a loving, giving, caring mother, grandmother and friend with a strong love of life and strength of character. She lived her life with unconditional love and support to family and friends. Her passing will be mourned greatly by family, close friends and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to Beta Sigma Phi Endowment Fund, or Beta Sigma Phi Scholarship Fund, PO Box 8500, Kansas City, Missouri 64114 in memory of Catherine Breslin.

A celebration of life in her honor will be held at a future date.
