Move over Jerry Brown. Crescenta Valley High School junior Sally Oh is one of five semi-finalists — and the only female — competing to be named the 64th Youth Governor, the top position within the Youth & Government program.

Elections will take place later this week in Sacramento during the Annual Model Legislature and Court. About 180 teenagers from the Crescenta-Cañada and Verdugo Hills Family YMCAYouth and Government programs are slated to attend. Participants will tour the California Legislative chambers and committee room, and give speeches in front of their peers and elected officials.

Sally, 16, who moved to the United States from Korea when she was 7, is currently taking three advancement placement and one honors class at Crescenta Valley High School. She is running on a platform of immigration amnesty, social equality and moderate budget planning.

“Sally is a very talented young woman who represents the best of our association,” said Youth and Government Director Vince Iuculano. “Our delegation continues to amaze me.”
