Sweet worlds collide

The time was ripe Monday for Mignon Chocolate & Coffee Lounge on Verdugo Road to have its busiest day of the year, selling chocolates and chocolate-dipped strawberries, blackberries and raspberries to Valentine’s Day shoppers.

Store owner Joe Terpoghossian said he started taking delivery of fresh fruit from Oxnard on Sunday. Workers hand-dipped the fruit at the Glendale and Pasadena stores early Sunday and Monday mornings in anticipation of the day’s sweet receipts.

“Everybody has a wife, everybody has a girlfriend, everybody needs chocolate,” Terpoghossian said.
