Bernita V. Perrine was an exceptional human being.  She was blessed with a kind, loving, giving and open heart, which she shared with everyone she knew.  Many, many people called Bernita β€œan angel here on earth.” Throughout her family life, work life, church life, and social life, to know Bernita was to be touched by an angel.

Bernita Vanderbilt Perrine was the wife of Theodore Perrine, mother of John and Mary Beth Perrine, mother-in-law of Evelyn Perrine, grandmother of Matthew and Sarah Perrine, daughter of Elva Stick and Floyd Vanderbilt, sister of Roger Lee Vanderbilt, and friend to all who knew her.

Bernita was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  She moved to Chicago and met her husband Ted through Austin Baptist Church.  They married on April 20, 1946, after Ted served 41 months in the US Army.  They raised their children in Highland Park, IL.  In 1966, they relocated to La Cañada, California. In 1987 they moved to Pasadena. Bernita dedicated her life to her family, to La Cañada Presbyterian Church and the Clipper Club, to her friends, and to volunteering and working to serve the children at Orthopaedic Hospital in Los Angeles.

Bernita peacefully went home with our Lord on Friday, February 25, 2011.  A memorial service will be held Friday, March 4, 2011 at 4:00pm at La Cañada Presbyterian Church at 626 Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Bernita Perrine to Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital Foundation, 2400 S.
