Jeanne Adelaide Soderstrom

Jeanne Adelaide Soderstrom passed away peacefully March 25, 2011 at the Las Casitas Assisted Living Home in Burbank. She was 86 years old.

Born October 13, 1924, she was the second of three children born to Harold and Tressel Huntley and was raised in Inglewood, California. In 1948, she married her late husband, Elmber Soderstrom, and promptly moved to Bishop, California, where Elmer had been assigned by the Los Angeles Dept. of Water and Power to do electrical work related to the Boulder Dam project. Upon returning to Southern California, Jeanne and Elmer settled in Burbank in 1956 to start a family. Known for her tireless energy, strength, humor, unflinching candor and above all, her generous spirit, Jeanne was a devoted Mother to her two children, Dan and Lisa and remained active within the Burbank community throughout her life. She served as President of the Mingay Elementary School PTA in 1965, and remained affiliated with a group of former PTA presidents, the “Sodalitas Sisters,”for more than 40 years. In the early 1970’s Jeanne obtained her real estate license and began a very successful career as a Burbank Realtor, working for Sterpa Realty, Thomas Realty, Modern Realty and finally her own brokerage, J & S Realty. She was a well liked and accomplished leader within Burbank Association of Realtors, serving on numerous committees and as president of the association in 1981.

Jeanne loved the game of golf and for eyars was a regular at Burbank’s DeBell golf course. She served as president of Burbank Women’s Golf Club in 1989-90. In addition, Jeanne was an active member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship at Burbank’s Little White Chapel, before becoming a member of First Christian church of North Hollywood (both Disciple of Christ congregations).

Jeane was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Elmer and her daughter, Lisa Padillia. She is survived by her son, Dan Soderstrom (Cheryl); granddaughters, Stephanie Gordillo (Mario); Melissa Padilla and Sheridan Soderstrom along with great grandsons, Mario and two-week-old, Maximilian.

A Memorial/Celebration of Jeanne’s life will be held Friday, April 15, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at First Christian church of North Hollywood-4390 Colfax Ave., North Hollywood, CA 91604 (corner of Colfax & Moorpark). Flowers or in lieu of, the family requests donations to made to the Huntington’s disease Society of America, in honor of Jeanne’s late daughter, Lisa.
