Bites and Sights: Family, music and the great outdoors

Share

One of my favorite things about summer is the free outdoor concerts that can be found throughout our surrounding cities. Not only are they really fun, they’re also family-friendly, which is right up our alley now that we have a baby.

Our activities have been pretty limited since our little one was born, and we’re always on the lookout for things we can do with a baby in tow. So, on Thursday night, my husband and I decided to go see the Glendale Pops perform at The Americana on Brand.

An outdoor concert is not only fun and entertaining for us, it’s also really stimulating for our daughter who loves music and being outdoors.

We laid out a blanket on the grass and enjoyed the warm summer breeze as the Pops hosted an evening of swing music. Even though the 8:00 p.m. start time was way past my daughter’s bedtime, fortunately, she can sleep through just about anything.

So as she slept peacefully in her stroller, we got to enjoy a great concert that we couldn’t otherwise have gone to had it been at an indoor venue. The casual outdoor setting of the Americana made for a great outing for our little family and a perfect summer night under the stars.
