The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors have contracted with the government of Quebec to lease two large “super scooper” aircrafts for the fire season.

The CL-415 SuperScoopers — a fixed-wing airplane that can carry 1,620 gallons of water with fire retardant — are scheduled to arrive Sept. 1 and be in service through Nov. 31, according to Supervisor Mike Antonovich’s office.

The planes will be used by the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
