Fire and police officials are scheduled to host a free workshop Thursday on how seniors can best be prepared for emergencies, and how they can protect themselves against fraud.

The free event -- scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the La Crescenta Library, 2809 Foothill Blvd. -- is part of series of workshops organized by Assisting Seniors Through Enhanced Resources.

Los Angeles County Battalion Chief Ron Larriva will discuss what seniors should have readily available in the event of a natural disaster or emergency. And Glendale Police Det. Robert Zaun will go over ways to protect against computer, phone and door-to-door scams and other forms of fraud.
