A 19-year-old Glendale woman was punched several times in the face late Tuesday as another woman tried to swipe her purse, police said.

The victim, whose name wasn’t released, was walking about 10:03 p.m. Tuesday at Chevy Chase Drive and Carlton Drive when another woman ran up from behind her and tried snatching her purse, according to Police Department reports.

The would-be thief punched the woman three to four times in the face when she resisted.

Unable to steal the purse, the thief ran away, hopped into the passenger seat of an idling SUV and fled the scene.

Paramedics treated and released the woman for a bloody nose.

The thief was described as a Latino and as wearing a black shirt and dark blue jeans, according to police reports.
