After blazing heat, temps could drop 20 degrees Friday

Temperatures could hit 107 degrees today and Thursday in the local valleys as a high-pressure system continues its hold over the Southland.

In Burbank and Glendale, the forecast calls for highs of up to 107 degrees through Thursday. The daytime highs in Pasadena are expected to hit 105 degrees both days, according to the National Weather Service.

But relief is on the horizon. Daytime temperatures could drop more than 20 degrees on Friday after a low-pressure system moves in, bringing with it partly cloudy skies over the weekend, the weather service said.

High temperatures could get below seasonal normals in the inland areas, hovering around the mid- to low-80s through Monday.
