C. James (Jim) Bethanis

C. James (Jim) Bethanis, 83, died peacefully on September 26, 2011, with his loving wife of 33 years at his side. Jim suffered from Parkinson’s Disease since 1985. He lived in Sedona, AZ for the last 21 years. Born in San Francisco on August 16, 1928, he is the son of late Aleck Bethanis and Lillian (Werner) Bethanis. Jim and his mother opened an appliance business in 1947 in Burbank, California. He later expanded the building on Glenoaks Blvd., and sold televisions and air conditioners. Jim was a Salvation Army board volunteer in Burbank for over 30 years, and he served as chairman in Sedona for over 10 years. Jim attended North Hollywood High School and the University of Southern California. He is a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Air Force. Jim is survived by his wife, Jeannine, daughters Sue Bethanis and Suzie Winn (Derek), sons Mark Bethanis and Jeffrey Brehmer (Lisa), grandchildren Kendall Winn, Carter Winn and Max Bethanis, sister Carol Ann Pollock (Nelson), and brother Alan Bethanis. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Jim’s favorite charity, The Burbank Salvation Army.
