Early morning blaze destroys apartment unit, damages others

An early morning apartment fire left one unit of a four-unit complex destroyed and the three others damaged.

The Burbank Fire Department responded to reports of a fire at 3800 W Chandler Blvd., at 1:51 a.m. Thursday.

Crews responded within a few minutes and saw the an upper unit of the complex was fully ablaze.

Three fire units were able to knock down the upper unit blaze but water and smoke damage caused damage to the remaining three units of the complex.

No injuries were reported but some cats may have perished. The American Red Cross was called to house the eight adult occupants of the apartment complex.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. Officials estimate $300,000 in structure damages and $100,000 in content damages.
